SNWA Board to Vote Aug. 20 – Will the public be allowed to speak?
The Southern Nevada Water Authority management has scheduled a “confidence vote” in the plan to pump billions of gallons of water annually from rural Nevada and Utah to Las Vegas.
PLAN, ranchers, GBWN, and conservationists from throughout the West are urging the SNWA board members to do two things: a) Vote against the Las Vegas Water Grab; and b) Allow the public to speak on the issue!
The SNWA board usually does not allow public input before important votes. This patently anti-democratic policy has been the agency’s rule for years, but the board can allow comment. People from throughout urban and rural parts of Nevada and Utah want to be heard! Time is running out. The SNWA management will set the agenda for the Aug. 20 meeting within the next two days!
CALL SNWA BOARD MEMBERS AND ASK THEM TO LISTEN TO THE PUBLIC BEFORE THEY VOTE! Call your representative – or any member of the board. Even if you are not from Clark County, be aware that some of these officials are interested in statewide elected office. Be polite, but let them know how you feel!
